ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) - Definition
ACPI is an abbreviation for Advanced Configuration and Power Interface. It is an open industry standard that permits hardware from numerous manufacturers to work jointly together within computer systems. ACPI grants control over power management to the operating system and permits sleep functions that minimize power consumption. ACPI only functions in systems in which the motherboard chipset, operating system, and often the Central Processing Unit (CPU) have been customized to run it.
