Active Content - Definition

Active Content refers to web site content that is either interactive, such as Internet polls or dynamic, such as animated images, stock tickers, action items, weather maps, JavaScript applications, embedded objects, streaming audio and video, ActiveX applications and more. Active Content is usually updated from the Web or a Channel. Streaming audio and video do rely on browser plug-ins, such as QuickTime, RealPlayer or Windows Media audio to display active content within a web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox.
