An Application is a software program that runs on your computer. Web browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, email programs, word processors, media players and games are all applications. The term Application is used because each program has a specific function or purpose for the user. For example, a word processor helps a person create a research paper, while the Real Player application can be used to play music CDs.
