Attribute - Definition
An Attribute pertains to the individual files on your computer and is information that indicates whether a file is read-only, hidden, ready for archiving (backing up), compressed, or encrypted, and whether the file contents should be indexed for fast file searching. In a word processing application, an Attribute is considered to be a characteristic. For instance, an underlined word would be said to have the underline attribute and a slanted character would have the italics attribute. In database systems, a field can have various attributes. If a field contains numeric data, it is considered to have the numeric attribute.
