BBS (Bulletin Board Service) - Definition
BBS is an abbreviation for Bulletin Board Service. It is a computerized meeting and announcement system that allows people to carry on discussions, upload and download files, and make announcements without the people being connected to the computer at the same time. Bulletin Board Services were much more popular just prior to the launch of the Internet to the general public. Today, the term BBS may also be used to refer to any online forum or message board.
