CSCI is an acronym for Computer Software Configuration Item. It is group of software treated as a single entity by a configuration management (CM) system. CSCI is designated for separate configuration management or an item that can be configured for computer software. The selection of a CSCI is based on trade-offs consisting of several factors to include software function, host, size, support concept, reuse plans, interface options, developer, and so on.
