Divx Codec - Definition

Divx is a set of media formatting products pioneered by DivX, Inc. The DivX compression codec uses lossy-MPEG-4-Part2 compression. In addition to the compression codec, DivX, Inc. has also pioneered a DivX media container format (with the .divx extension) which allows for easy transmission and playback using the DivX media player among many other types of media players. YouTube supports the uploading of content which implements MPEG-4 compression through the DivX media container format.
