Internet Explorer allows you to save the locations of your Favorite Web Sites by creating shortcuts to them known as Favorites. Favorites allow you to go directly to a web page without having to manually type in the Web Address. You can even create folders to store your Favorites by categories to assist you in organizing them. Therefore, this technical brief will show you how to Manage Your Windows Favorites.
Adding Windows Favorites
- Open Internet Explorer and type in a Web Address that you frequently visit.
- Once loaded, click on the word Favorites, which is contained in your top tool bar area.
- This will pull down a menu for you to now click on Add to Favorites.
- A menu will appear asking you to confirm the Naming of the Favorite.
- Adjust as necessary and Click on the OK button at the top of the screen.
- Your new Favorite will appear at the bottom of your Favorites list.
- To view it, click on the word Favorites once again located in your top tool bar area.
Deleting Windows Favorites
- Open Internet Explorer and click on the word Favorites in your top tool bar area.
- This will pull down a menu for you to now click on Organize Favorites.
- Click on any one of the Favorites that you want to delete until it becomes highlighted.
- Then click on the Delete button to delete the Favorite.
- Continue selecting additional Favorites you want to delete in the same fashion as above.
- Then click on the Close button to close the Organize Favorites Window.
- To confirm your deletions, click on the word Favorites located in your top tool bar area.
Renaming Windows Favorites
- Open Internet Explorer and click on the word Favorites in your top tool bar area.
- This will pull down a menu for you to now click on Organize Favorites.
- Click on any one of the Favorites that you want to rename until it becomes highlighted.
- Then click on the Rename button to rename the Favorite.
- Now you can either type in a New Favorites Name or adjust the existing Favorites name.
- After you finish editing the Favorite, press the Enter key on your keyboard to save the new name.
- Continue selecting additional Favorites you want to rename in the same fashion as above.
- Then click on the Close button to close the Organize Favorites Window.
- To confirm your new names, click on the word Favorites located in your top tool bar area.
Selecting Windows Favorites
- Log onto the Internet first through your existing Service Provider.
- Open Internet Explorer and click on the word Favorites in your top tool bar area.
- This will pull down a menu listing of all your current Windows Favorites.
- Click on any one of the Favorites and you will be immediately taken to its Web Address.
- Continue selecting additional Favorites in the same fashion as above.
