Microsoft provides us with built in functionality in Windows to smooth the edges of our screen fonts. Sometimes when you view certain web pages with a lot of fonts, some of the fonts may appear to have jagged edges. For Windows XP
- Go into your Control Panel by first clicking on the Start Button.
- Then click on the Control Panel icon located in the right column of the Start Menu.
- If your Start Menu is set to the Classic View, then begin by clicking on the Start Button.
- Then click on Settings, then click on the Control Panel icon to open up the Control Panel.
- Now, Double click on the System icon to open up the System Properties window.
- Then click on the Advanced tab located at the top of the screen.
- Now click on the Settings button under the Performance section of the screen.
- Under the visual effects section place a check mark next to: Smooth edges of screen fonts.
- Then click OK to save your settings and click OK again to exit the System Properties window.
- Then close the Control Panel to return back to you Windows session.
For Windows 98 And Windows Millennium
- Go into your Control Panel by first clicking on the Start Button.
- Then click on Settings and then click on the Control Panel icon.
- Double click on the Display icon to open up the Display Properties window.
- Then click on the Effects tab located at the top of the screen.
- Under the visual effects section place a check mark next to: Smooth edges of screen fonts.
- Then click on the OK button to save your settings and exit the Display Properties window.
- And then close the Control Panel to return back to you Windows session.
