How To Add Back Or Remove Your Browser’s Go Button

Beginning with Internet Explorer Version 5.5, Microsoft added the Go button to the Internet Explorer Toolbar. The Go Button was added to assist a user after he entered a Web Site Address into the address line of the Browser. So rather than having to press the Keyboard Enter Key after typing a Web Address, the user can simply click on the Go button to launch the intended Web Page. Therefore, this technical brief will show you how to add/remove the Internet Explorer Go button from the Internet Explorer Toolbar.

Adding Back Or Removing The Internet Explorer Go Button

  1. Begin by launching the Internet Explorer Browser in the manner you normally do.
  2. Then position your mouse directly upon the Go Button and right click on it.
  3. This will pull down a menu for you to now click on the Go Button menu option.
  4. Notice how the Go Button automatically disappears from the Internet Explorer Toolbar.
  5. Now getting it back is a little tricky and requires precision positioning with you mouse.
  6. Locate the small arrow pointing downward and the very end of the white colored address bar.
  7. Position your mouse directly upon the small arrow pointing downward and right click on it.
  8. Then click on the Go Button menu option from the pull down menu that appears.
  9. The Go Button will automatically reappear onto the Internet Explorer Toolbar.

Note: This Technical Brief Will Work For Internet Explorer Versions 5.5 And Higher.

The Netscape Go Button

After Microsoft added the Go button to its Internet Explorer Browser Toolbar, Netscape Communications Corporation added the Go button to their Netscape Browser Software Toolbar. The purpose of the Go Button was to assist a user after he entered a Website Address into the address line of the Browser. So rather than always having to press the Enter Key on the Keyboard after typing a Web Address, the user can simply click on the Go button to launch the Web Page he intends. Therefore, this technical brief will show you how to remove the Netscape Browser Go button from the Netscape Browser Toolbar.

Adding Back Or Removing The Netscape Go Button

  1. Begin by launching Netscape in the manner you normally do.
  2. When Netscape loads, click on the word Edit located in your top tool bar area.
  3. This will pull down a menu for you to now click on Preferences.
  4. When the Preferences Windows opens, remove the check mark next to the word Go.
  5. Then click on the OK button to save your changes and exit the Preferences window.
  6. Notice how the Go Button automatically disappears from the Netscape Toolbar.
  7. To to get it back simply go back to the Preferences Window and put the check mark back.
  8. The Go Button will automatically reappear onto the Netscape Browser Toolbar.

Note: This Technical Brief Will Work For Netscape Browser Versions 6.0 And Higher.
