Hardware Configuration - Definition

Hardware Configuration can be considered the Resource settings that have been allocated for a specific device. Each device on your computer has a hardware configuration, which may consist of IRQ lines, DMA Channels, an Input/Output port, or memory address settings. Many computer professionals optimize their system hardware configuration to achieve maximum performance including, but not limited to, motherboard configuration options, bus speed options and system BIOS settings. The Windows Operating System includes, Device Manager, an administrative tool that lets you manage the devices on your computer.
