HTML (HyperText Markup Language) - Definition
HTML is an abbreviation for HyperText Markup Language. It is a method of encoding text so it can be displayed attractively within an web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox. HTML Tags (commands that enclose and define bodies of text) are used to format text, create basic page structure and link to other pages. It does this by denoting certain text as headings, paragraphs, lists, and so on. Hypertext refers to any document linked to any other related document. The World Wide Web Consortium established HTML 4.0 as the final version, though more powerful HTML variations now include DHTML (Dynamic HTML) and XHTML.
