LAN (Local Area Network) - Definition
LAN is an abbreviation for Local Area Network, which is a collection of computers located within a small geographic area (typically, a single square kilometer), all of which are capable of communicating with each other as permitted by security restrictions. Some modern LANs rely on wireless technology, but most use Ethernet standards to facilitate transactions between hardware from different manufacturers.
