OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) - Definition
OEM is an abbreviation for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Over the years, the term manufacturer has become very loose and often means maker or assembler. It is a term to segment out a section of the industry that creates computers or computer equipment. Since 1985 the term has come to mean unnamed or unbranded. Hence, a manufacturer of unbranded products or a reseller that brands unbranded products to a proprietary brand or name.
