Throughput or download speed is the speed that data is transferred to your computer from the Internet. This speed is lower than your connection speed and can be affected by the distance between your location and central office, the condition of your phone line or wiring inside your house, computer settings as well as network or Internet congestion at the server for the Web sites you are accessing.
