Time Server is a computer that periodically synchronizes the time on all computers within a network. This ensures that the time used by network services and local functions remains accurate. The most important and widely-used protocol for distributing and synchronizing time is the Network Time Protocol (NTP), though other less-popular or outdated time protocols continue in use.
