ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) Socket is a special is a type of CPU socket on a computer motherboard for plugging in or upgrading integrated circuits easily. The ZIF socket can be easily opened by lifting a small lever or turning a screw allowing a chip, usually a CPU to be dropped in, then the socket is closed.
